ANY COLOUR AS LONG AS IT’S YOUR COLOUR

It is our aim to introduce the uninitiated to the world of tailoring by example and exemplary service: a place where the discerning can feel at home..

CUT

We favour classical over conservative and proportion and balance to a trend or theme - That said, we can offer our customers a choice of cuts depending on their requirements.

the english cut

A classic style offering a well fitted cut - though not spray-on - with an elegant silhouette and robust construction which lends itself to traditional cloths, typically those over 12oz.

The fatto-in-italia

Deconstructed by nature given its unlined construction with no shoulder pads or sleeve-head, the hand finished full canvas provides a softer more natural fit and silhouette more associated with bespoke tailoring. Whilst this method of tailoring has traditionally lent itself to summer weight cloths (typically under 11oz) which makes it a perfect option for when the temperatures climb, heavier weight cloths such as tweed and flannel should not be overlooked.

Above all, it is your suit that we are making and we are always happy to wax sartorial about your specific requirements.

MAKE & fit

Every garment is cut from scratch using a Customers own unique pattern and measurements, not to mention choice of cloth and trim i.e. buttons and linings.

Fittings and alterations are part and parcel of the tailoring process, irrespective the type of make utilised.

FInish

We offer several methods of finish to accommodate a Customers personal preference, time constraints and budget to ensure the best fit is achieved. Whilst we cannot guarantee a hole-in-one i.e. a fitting where no alterations are required, a made-to-measure garment is presented finished at the first fitting, and is adjusted thereafter to refine the fit. Our lead-times range from 4wks - 12wks.”

finer points

When I first had the idea of Brown in Town, I was intent that our proposition of making well made garments, from scratch and to order would be accessible to those who had previously considered bespoke, or indeed made-to-measure tailoring, unattainable. Ergo, as part of the service which you can expect from being a patron of Brown in Town, we offer what we consider to be agreeable payment terms, as follows;

  • Once commissioned and having taken down one’s particulars (measurements), we request that a deposit of 50% of the total cost of one’s order is paid, that we might go to market and procure the cloth and trim requested: ‘bespoke’ from the olde English ‘bespoken’ - the balance being settled at the first fitting.

  • Alternatively, and in the tradition of Savile Row tailors, we also offer our patrons the option to have an account whereby a small deposit is paid and the balance is paid by monthly subscription i.e. a Standing Order. The Brown in Town (BiT) Account allows you to spread the cost of your tailoring over 6, 12 or even 18 months - so you can start wearing your Overcoat, Suit, Jacket, Trousers or prerequisite ensemble, sooner, rather than later. For those with greater sartorial needs, the BiT Account is a means of investing in a more sustainable way of dressing..
