Like a Tuscan Cowboy: Landi X Capalbio Collab

When the press release for the Landi x Capalbio collaboration landed on my desk, it was love at first sight. I wasn’t sure what had grabbed me more in that instant: the bright orange Casentino wool (of which I was already a huge fan), the giant boomerang-shaped pockets, or the fact that this was, quite literally, a Tuscan cowboy jacket.

I mean, aside from Levi’s and Marlboro, who even hears about brands still making cowboy attire these days? So, of course, I had to investigate.

By the time I saw the full collection at the last Pitti, the orange Casentino had been swapped out for an incredibly soft corduroy - in fairness, probably more appealing - and used across a range of gilets and western-style jackets (Casentino lovers, fear not, the beautifully bobbled wool has been put to excellent use in their traditional duffel coat).

In this tribute to the traditional garments of the Tuscan Butteri - the herders of the Maremma in Italy, these styles retain those signature long pockets, with the jacket having additional breast pockets, reinforcing its western credentials.

That sense of versatility runs through these pieces, making it particularly well suited to this time of year: adaptable, comfortable, and easy to layer, yet still cut with enough style to feel as much at home in the field as it is down the Dog & Duck.
