Going to the Fair..
Simple Simon met a pieman,
Going to the fair;
Says Simple Simon to the pieman,
Let me taste your ware.
Says the pieman to Simple Simon,
Show me first your penny;
Says Simple Simon to the pieman,
Indeed I have not any.
Simple Simon went a-fishing,
For to catch a whale;
All the water he had got,
Was in his mother’s pail.
Simple Simon went to look If plums grew on a thistle;
He pricked his fingers very much,
Which made poor Simon whistle.
Bristol’s local tailor is never more in his element than when he is manning a stall at a fair! Surrounded by his peers, and entertaining the crowds, hence, we look forward to this weekend’s South Gloucestershire Show.
Located just off Westerleigh Road, nr Henfield, South Gloucestershire, with it’s BS37 8QZ postcode, it is practically Bristol, home of Brown in Town. And the fair will be packed to the gills with good ol’ country pursuits such as shooting, fishing, classic motor cars, bicycle events (sponsored by Bristol’s very own Sustrans, no less), in addition to music, arts and crafts, and the usual amusements; coconut shire, face painting and plenty of other activities to keep the saucepan lids amused.
And whilst Brown in Town may not be able to make Simon whistle while he waits, we will be showcasing our atelier to include; Fox Umbrellas (I hear that rain is forecast..), Brown in Town and Skibinski woollen ties and also our wonderful all cotton handkerchiefs.
But if you are in need of some new tweeds, morning dress, a lounge suit, or perhaps wedding suit, a sport coat or some shirts or slacks, of course we will be only too happy to discuss your sartorial requirements with you whilst you peruse our many, many fine cloths including linens, cottons, mohairs, worsteds, flannels, tweeds and shirtings from local cloth merchants Lear Browne and Dunsford of Exeter.
We look forward to seeing you there!
